Loose Ends matched this project with Janice, a volunteer finisher and self-proclaimed perfectionist, who spent about 40 hours completing the quilt.

Do you believe that if you blow out the candles on your birthday cake and make a wish out loud, it won’t come true?

Not us!

What better way to communicate your wishes to your loved ones than to straight out say what you’re hoping for?

There’s something to be said for putting big dreams out into the world, and then seeing what happens. Here are a few things we’d love to see come true:

1. Meryl Streep, Ryan Gosling, or Rosie O'Donnell become Loose Ends finishers. (Meryl, Ryan, Rosie, if you’re reading this…)

2. A couple of TikTok-savvy young people find us and help take our social media to the next level. We know they’re out there somewhere! Is this you?

3. Our finishers send regular updates to their project owners and to us without being nudged! Every 2-3 weeks would be ideal.

4. A gorgeous crochet project comes to us from Scotland, and our friends at Moorit Magazine sign up to finish it, featuring it in their beautiful publication.
   This one’s close: Just waiting for the right project!

5. A few big partners show up for Loose Ends. Enough to fill the space JOANN left behind, give us the resources to grow, allowing us to hire three more full-time staff members.

Is this all too good to be true? Maybe!! But then again, this whole amazing community sometimes feels too good to be true, and yet here we are.

5. “Mom would have loved her.”

Mary Love had nearly finished this baby blanket before her death. Her daughter, Susan, submitted the project to Loose Ends with the intention of gifting it to her grand-niece, who was just a baby when Mary died.

“I wondered if she’d be interested in wrapping her baby dolls or stuffed animals in the blanket, as she played. As it turns out my grand-niece's favorite color is yellow, and my niece is thrilled to have something made by her grandmother for her daughter.”

Megan spent about 12 hours completing this blanket and placed a tiny heart before starting her work to show where Mary left off and where she stepped in to help.

6. Help the people who need Loose Ends find Loose Ends.

Last month, we invited folks to help us spread the word by signing up as Loose Ends Ambassadors, and boy howdy, did you show up! Nearly a hundred new volunteers from 6 different countries have signed on from US, Canada, UK, Australia, NZ, and Italy.

Loose Ends Ambassadors introduce people to our work, share info with local groups and organizations, and help more people discover how to get involved. Want to join us?

Last month, Loose Ends published an invitation to apply for three open seats on our Board of Directors. More than 140 applicants answered the call!! Our board is carefully reviewing applications and will be reaching out about next steps soon!
