Loose Ends Project Board of Directors Opportunity
Loose Ends is seeking experienced, mission-driven leaders to join our Board of Directors at a pivotal moment of growth.
Our nonprofit eases grief, builds community, and inspires generosity by matching volunteer handwork finishers with projects left incomplete due to death, illness, or disability. By finishing what someone else began, we help families find closure and preserve memories through a global community of makers.p
We are building a working board, actively engaged in guiding the organization and helping it grow. We are looking for leaders with the experience and perspective to help take Loose Ends to its next stage. We currently complete 1,000 projects annually and raise $185,000, supported by a staff of 2.25 FTE and four board members. We’re looking to add up to three board members to help expand project capacity, fundraising, and staff infrastructure. Our goal is to triple the number of project submissions to 3,000 annually by March 2029 and scale the organization accordingly.
Priority areas of expertise:
Nonprofit governance and scaling
Fundraising and philanthropic strategy
Communications, storytelling, or brand building
Technology and community-building at scale
Arts, crafts, or creative sector leadership
Board members will:
Provide strategic guidance and oversight
Expand awareness through their networks
Actively support fundraising
Contribute expertise to key initiatives
Commitment:
Serve a three-year term
Attend quarterly, 90-minute Zoom board meetings
Serve on at least one committee: Finance, Development, or Marketing/Communications
Board members will contribute their expertise between meetings through grant writing, relationship-building, strategic guidance, or advocacy for the organization. Current board members spend approximately 10–15 hours per month.
